A city in Uttar Pradesh that contains archaeological remains from the eleventh century BCE to the second century CE. The city was variously occupied by the Mauryan, Indo-Greek, Indo-Scythian and the Kushan Empires. It is also considered to be the birthplace of the Hindu god Krishna.
