A small antechamber connecting the garbhagriha (inner sanctum) of the temple to its mandapa (pillared hall). It is a feature typically found in Nagara style temples in northern India. It is also found in Chalukyan temples, where it fills the intermediate space between vimana (towering structure above the garbhagriha) and the mandapa.
