Heer-Ranjha

An epic love story popular in the Punjab region across present-day Pakistan and India, it narrates the story of lovers Heer Sial and Dheedo Ranjha. The most popular version of the story is by the Punjabi Sufi poet Waris Shah and dates to the eighteenth century, though sources are divided on the origins of the tale and its characters.
