Meaning “concealment” or “veiling” in Sanskrit, it is one of the cosmic acts of deities in the Hindu religious tradition. It is one of the five duties (panchakriya) of Shiva, as depicted in the anandatandava (“dance of bliss”) of his Nataraja form.
