Vinayak Pandurang Karmarkar (b. 1891; d.1967) was a sculptor best known for his statues of the Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji. His house in Sasawane village near Alibaug was converted into the Karmarkar Museum and displays around 150 carved sculptures. He was awarded Padma Shri in 1964.
