Established in 1980, it was an art gallery set within the Prithvi Theatre, a prominent cultural space in Mumbai, India. Also known as the Prithvi Foyer Gallery, it was located in the foyer of the central theatre building and was established by the artist Tyeb Mehta and his wife, Sakina. After hiatus of ten years, it re-opened in 1994 with an exhibition of the works of artist Laxman Shrestha. The gallery is no longer in operation.
