A winged creature in Buddhist, Jain and Hindu mythology. He is the mount of the Hindu god Vishnu and is often represented as a kite, eagle or as a half-man half-bird. In Buddhism, he is the Ashtasena (eight legions), a dharma protector. He is also the yaksha (attendant) to the Jain Tirthankara Shantinatha.
