An organisation in Kolkata, West Bengal, that holds a vast collection of old manuscripts from India. It was founded by William Jones in 1784 as a centre for furthering Oriental studies. The society’s collection includes the Rigveda Padapatha (c. 7th century), Amrita Vindu (c. 11th century) and Saha’ if-i-Shara’ if (19th century), to name a few.
