William Morris (b. 1834; d. 1896) was a British textile and interior designer, writer and socialist activist popularly associated with the British Arts and Crafts Movement. He established the Morris & Co. decorative arts firm in 1861, which had a profound influence on Victorian interior design. Morris is best known today for wallpaper and furniture designs that incorporated detailed motifs from the natural world and inspired from medieval textile design.
