An ancient Hindu encyclopaedic text consisting of three khandas (parts), it deals with a wide range of subjects, including cosmology, astrology, genealogies (primarily those of kings and sages), manners and customs, penances, dramaturgy, performing and visual arts and temple construction. It is considered an appendix to the Vishnu Purana.
