Sonal Jain (b. 1975) is an Indian artist based in the city of Guwahati in the eastern Indian state of Assam. Since 2004, Jain has collaborated with the artist Mriganka Madhukaillya as a part of the Desire Machine Collective. The group experiments with film, sound, photography and multimedia to present installations that explore issues of politics, identity and the environment, primarily within the context of north-eastern India. Their works have been exhibited at the India Pavilion of the Venice Biennale, Italy (2011), at Experimenta India at the Tate Modern, London, UK (2012) and Being Singular Plural at the Solomon Guggenheim Museum, New York, USA (2012), among other events.
