The first independent ruler of the Gauda kingdom, who reigned c. late sixth to mid seventh century. His reign was marked by several conquests for power in areas in present-day Assam, Kannauj and Thanesar. He was also allegedly involved in the destruction of stupas and the oppression of Buddhism, although this claim has since been refuted by historians.
