A Pop Art movement established by the artists of the Baroda Group in the 1960s, it was influenced by similar artistic movements in the United Kingdom and the United States of America. Artists such as KG Subramanyan, Bhupen Khakhar, Vivan Sundaram, Ushakant Mehta, Vinodray Patel, Jyoti Bhatt and Jaidev Thakore situated the subversive and irreverent humour typical of the movement in an Indian context, using various materials and techniques in their works.
