A dynasty that ruled over the Vijayanagara Empire from 1505 to 1565 CE. It rose to power in 1505, after Vira Narasimha Tuluva acceded the throne. Subsequent rulers, including Krishnadevaraya (r.1509–29 CE) and Achyutaraya (r. 1529–42 CE), oversaw a period of immense prosperity and influence in the region. The dynasty’s rule came to an end in 1570, with the Vijayanagara army’s defeat in the Battle of Talikota (1565) signalling the beginning of the decline of the empire.
