The works of nine artists, namely, Abanindranath Tagore, Amrita Sher-Gil, Gaganendranath Tagore, Jamini Roy, Nandalal Bose, Nicholas Roerich, Rabindranath Tagore, Raja Ravi Varma and Sailoz Mookherjea, which have been classified as National Art Treasures by the Government of India under the Antiquities and Art Treasures Act of 1972. According to the act, the works of these artists cannot be exported out of the country.
