Murshid Quli Khan (b. c.1660; d.1727) was the first Nawab of Bengal. He is known for introducing the mal zamini system of revenue collection, replacing the earlier jagirdari system. The mal zamini revenue system led to the evolution of the zamindari system in the Bengal region.
