Established by the king Yashovigraha, this dynasty ruled parts of present-day Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in the eleventh and twelfth centuries CE, with its capital at Varanasi. It was succeeded by the Delhi Sultanate in the 12th century, when its last monarch Harishchandra was defeated in battle.
