Photography collective in Bangladesh founded in 1976, with membership open to both hobbyists and professional photographers. Its first head was co-founder Manzoor Alam Beg, and subsequent presidents included the photojournalist Shahidul Alam. Bangladesh Photography Society (BPS) organises exhibitions in its gallery, as well as monthly meetings, workshops, and regular competitions, including an annual national contest in partnership with the government, and a number of international contests. It has fifteen photographic organisations under its umbrella across various parts of Bangladesh, and offers members darkroom access. Basic photography training is offered through its subsidiary the Bangladesh Photographic Institute. BPS is a member of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP).
